Real Talk, I Felt Crappy When I Took These Photos

Updated: Jan 13, 2019

I would like to preface this post by saying how dang heckin' happy it makes me feel to share my thoughts, feelings, and pictures with so many people who appreciate and are inspired by what I have to say. But sometimes, even with that mountain of gratitude I often feel from you guys, putting words to paper or getting the right shot is just hard. No matter how much you love something, there will always be days where doing anything can feel exhausting.

This was one of those days.

Sky & I went out to take some pictures and I, for the life of me, could not get inspired by anything. Nevertheless, we persisted even though it was really hard finding the beauty in things when the world felt dark around me. I was on a mission to get the shots I needed, and tried my hardest to be patient with myself and the process. Becoming frustrated on why I was having such a hard time was not going to help me. Finally, we had captured something I was very happy with, which actually re-inspired me. Allowing yourself days to relax is of course crucial, but it can be just as beneficial to keep pushing through despite how hard it may feel. This is especially true if the only one you'd be letting down is you. This can apply to your job, but also your mental health, self care and growth. Push through, ask yourself tough questions about what's frustrating you and like Kathleen Kelly says (quoting The Godfather), "go to the mattresses!"
