Makeup & Skincare Routine

Updated: Jan 12, 2019

For a long time I have struggled with acne and feeling uncomfortable in my skin. After trying nearly every option available and drastically changing my diet I finally have skin that I'm proud of. Do not get me wrong, I still break out all the time - practically any time I even think about sugar or when that lovely time of the month rolls around. Despite this, what has made me feel the most confident in my skin is the act of taking care of it. Like most things that I do, I try to be thoughtful with it so I have gone through a million products to have finally found a perfect recipe for me. I am definitely not the most knowledgable in either makeup or skincare and I am super excited to try new products, but for now this is what I am obsessed with. Enjoy!

Cleanser : I have been using First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser for a while now and I have grown rather fond of it. It is super gentle and removes dirt and makeup without leaving my skin super dry.

Oil/Moisturizer : When my skin is feeling extra dry and needs an extra boost I will use The Ordinary Squalane Oil before my moisturizer to let it soak into my face and it immeditaley brings my skin back to life. The Ordinary's products are often sold out, but they are definitely worth keeping an eye out for because they are at such an awesome price point ($12.00!!!)

On a daily basis I use the  Sunday Riley C.E.O. Moisturizer and it has saved my life. I am a super huge fan of the Sunday Riley products and this moisturizer is exceptional. It is infused with Vitamin C and hydrates the heck out of your skin.

Toner: I've been using a cult classic, Lotion p50 by Biologique Rechere, and at first was not a fan since it has a little bit of a burning sensation, but after using it a few more times I have been converted. Put it on post face wash, pre oil and it will do wonders for your skin.

Masks/Acne Treatments: By far my favorite product that I have added to my routine is the Sunday Riley Saturn Sulfur Acne Mask. Any time I get a pimple I use this mask as a spot treatment while I sleep and 9/10 times I wake up and the blemish is practically gone.  It is an intense product so like all products you should test it before applying it to your face. I'm also a super fan of the Orgins Clear Improvements Active Charcoal Mask when my skin is looking dull and needs an extra boost.

Foundation:With having such fair skin it has been a struggle to find a foundation that matches my skin tone until I found Josie Maran Argan Oil Foundation. If you have super fair skin, I would recommend trying the shade Dynamic. It's super breathable while still have great coverage.

Highlighter + Blush: I've been on the hunt for a natural looking highlighter and Benefit Watt's Up is a dang heckin' dream. I have been wanting to try Glossier's Cloud Paint for my blush, but I have been using Alima Pure Matte Blush in Antique Rose and I have been super happy with this all natural product.

Eyes + Eyebrows: Like the rest of my makeup routine I like to keep my eye makeup fresh and clean the majority of the time. I'm of course a huge fan of the Glossier Boy Brow for my eyebrows - it's the perfect all in one product for me for thickening, filling in, and grooming my brows into place. I've been obsessed with the pink eyeshadow trend so I was super pumped to find the perfect color from Colour Pop. With my eyelashes, if we are being completely honest, I normally just buy what's on sale at the grocery store :/ but I've been dreaming about getting eyelash extensions so hopefully I can share that experience with you guys!

Lips: If you have been following me for a while you know that I am a very big fan of a good red lip and I have been faithful for years to Maybelline Red Revival. It is truly the perfect red and only $5.00 so totally a win/win. As silly as this might seem, it has been a struggle finding a chapstick that actually hydrates my lips but Kiehl's totally does the trick.

Hair: I am sorta obsessed with OUAI and pretty much want to buy every product they make, but for right now I am using their Hair Oil when my hair is feeling dry and the Wave Spray on a daily basis to bring out my natural waves. Not only does my hair love these products, but they also make my hair smell lovely.
